Italy national UEFA Euro 2008 team kits (Home)



Team Italy the current World Champions, having won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Italy national football team is controlled by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC). At the UEFA Euro 2008 campaign, with Roberto Donadoni is former Italian international footballer as a coach. This was followed replaced on Marcello Lippi (former Italy national head coach), who resigned after having won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Under Donadoni, Italy national reached the quarter finals of the tournament, but on 26 June 2008 Donadoni was subsequently dismissed despite having signed a contract extension prior to the beginning of Euro 2008, using a clause in the contract which allowed termination if team Italy does not reach the semi-final.

In the final UEFA euro 2008 group stage team Italy was grouped with France, Netherlands and Romania in Group C, group has been dubbed the competition's "group of death". Nevertheless, despite the strength of the four teams, Group C was the only group at Euro 2008 from which no team made it past the quarter-finals. Italy match finished as the second quarter-finalists, after they beat France 2–0 in their final game. In their first match on 9 June 2008, they 3–0 loss to the Netherlands in a display of counter-attacking football by the rival team. Donadoni was widely criticized for his choice of players for that match than drew the subsequent match with Romania on 13 June. The final quarter-final pitted Spain against team Italy. The two teams played out a 0–0 draw, Italy being the only team to hold eventual Euro Cup winners Spain scoreless in regular time. However, the Spaniards won 4–2 on penalties.


Italy shirt is a traditional Azzuri blue (azzurro, in Italian), with gold features, a trim around the end of the sleeves and a gold collar, as well as manufacturer’s Puma having their logo on the right chest in gold too. The puma logo appears again over each shoulder. The official FIGC logo with four gold stars representing four World Cup titles on the left chest after the win in Germany 2006. Italy shirts will be worn with Azzuri blue shorts and socks is completed with a strip of the Italian tri-color and the gold PUMA logo.
