Vietnam the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup winners, the nation were in group B with host Myanmar, Phillipines andSingapore. Vietnam the co-host with Indonesia open the 2010 Suzuki Cup campaign against Myanmar on the 2nd
December, followed by the Philippines on the 5th December and Singapore on the 8th December.
In their history, Vietname have only won this competition once, in 2008, ranked runners-up in 1998, 3rd three times in 1996, 2002 and 2007, and 4th in the year 2002.
Since 2009, Vietnam began to be sponsored by Nike. Nike supply training materials and uniforms for the national football teams and futsal team on a five year deal. The new Vietnam away shirt base colour used for this shirt is white, and the Vietnam flag is placed on the left side of the chest. The shirt has red vertical pinstripes on the body.
