I noticed few team during the UEFA Champions League 2008-09 with the shirt number printed with UEFA Champions League logo. Does the champions league have its own shirt printing this season. Chelsea, Arsenal and Celtic teams with these CL players lettering and numbers printed on their shirts and shorts. Also on the list Spaniash club Vallerial at their first UEFA Champions league match. If anyone have any idea these numbers and lettering fonts, please share and give few comments.

as far as i am aware the teams who have adopted this numbering system, are those who come from leagues which do not enforce its own institutional numbering i.e the premier league and spl both have their own name & numbering design. unlike serie a or la liga, where teams have their own designs either personal or brand based e.g nike or adidas' templates.
therefore teams such as inter, juventus, barcelona and real madrid all have their own personal templates.
Only one thing: is Villarreal, not Vallerial jeje, but i understood. I like these kind of fonts, but i have no idea where can i found, or where can i download free.

the font is a modified version of Klavika, from Process Type Foundry. The corners have been rounded for this application.

It’s interesting that you should mention this because I’ve been looking it up over the past few days. Reason for my interest in it is that I’ve noticed a complete difference in the numbering and name font during the Champs league VS the Premier League and I'm a big fan of both. One of the earlier comments on the blog was 50% correct in that they mentioned that the Champs League has no font specification in their font. A result of which the teams apparently default to the std font that the kit sponsor (Nike Adidas etc) use. I noticed this myself during the recent Man Utd V Inter and Chelsea game as well. Premier League font is more “square’ish” whereas the font used in their European games is more round’ish and the names are less defined. If you take a look at it you’ll find a similarity between the various sports brands fonts but for some reason with Adidas the UK teams fonts are different from Spanish and Italian teams fonts whereas Nikes fonts are the same on all teams the sponsor.
