Seed in Group D of UEFA Euro 1996 was one of four groups in the final tournament's initial group stage. It began on 9 June and was completed on 19 June. The group consisted of defending champions Denmark, Portugal, Croatia and Turkey.
Croatia qualified for the knockout stages, with wins over Turkey (1–0) and Denmark (3–0). The knockout stages against Germany, Jürgen Klinsmann opened the scoring. A goal from Davor Šuker evened the score after 51 minutes, before Matthias Sammer of Germany scored eight minutes later, and the game ended 2–1 to Germany.
