Greece UEFA EURO 2008 football shirt

The new Adidas Greece national kit will not only take them through the Euro 2008 finals stage, but the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, and all the way to the Euro 2012 qualifying round!
Greece's home kit since the Hellenic Football Federation was first established was blue, but after Greece's triumph at Euro 2004 they changed their home kit from blue to white.
At Euro 2008 Greece were drawn in Group D along with Sweden, Spain, and Russia. In the tournament finals, however, the Greek team lost all three games and scored only one goal. Greece underperformed in the opening match against Sweden and lost 2-0. They tried to recover in the match against Russia, but lost 1-0. Having already been eliminated, the Greek team tried their chances against -already qualified- Spain, but also lost 2-1, becoming the first defending champion not to earn a single point in the next European Championship.

During the tournament, Greek team wore all white in every match, looks like they cannot repeat their best results at Euro 2004.

The Hellenic Football Federation (HFF) and adidas have extended their sponsorship deal until 2012. Adidas have taken simplicity to another level with this new Greece home shirt for the reigning European Champions. The shirt itself is a plain white design, with the adidas three stripes over the shoulders in blue, the adidas logo in the centre of the shirt just beneath the collar and the Hellenic Football Federation badge on the left chest. The player number will appear on the front of the shirt on the right chest and will be in blue on the back of the shirt as well as the player name. Keeping with this design for the next four years instead of the usual two. Other than that though there really is not much more to say about this clean & straight-forward effort which resembles more of a training/leisure top rather than what we have become accustomed to seeing match shirts look like recently. With a real step away from the previous Greek kit it will be interesting to see if this minimalist policy is rolled-out to other sides across the Adidas stable and also how many other teams stick with their next shirts for this length of time. The Greek national team jersey shows an inscription of the Greek national team anthem on the seams of the jersey.
