England national team, still with the UMBRO kits during the World Cup 1986 tournaments at Mexico. The England home kits with the typical white, away in red and third in pale blue. England shirts with the same design however the red and pale blue kits, made no appearance at the tournament. England wore the white shirts in the first four matches. Then came the quaterfinal against Argentina, against whom England usually wore red in contrast to Argentina's pale blue and white striped shirts. But this time Argentina wore their alternate solid blue shirts.
The team under Bobby Robson fared better as England reached the quarter finals of the 1986 World Cup and finished fourth in the tournament four years later, which was the best performance in the World Cup since 1966.
