American Major League Soccer club (MLS), New York Red Bulls soccer is based in New Jersey. The team was originally known as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars through 1997. From the 1998 season until right before the 2006 season, the team was known as simply the MetroStars. The team was sold to Austrian energy drink producer Red Bull GmbH and then was renamed New York Red Bulls on March 9, 2006 and completely re-brand the franchise, changing the name, colors, and logo. New York Red Bulls soccer plays in Giants Stadium. Red Bulls soccer home match stadium is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, just outside of New York City, but is currently constructing a new stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, named Red Bull
Arena. The team's headquarters are located in Secaucus, New Jersey. New York Red Bulls soccer under the head coach Juan Carlos Osorio, is a Colombian football manager and former football player. Osorio was hired by the New York Red Bulls on December 18, 2007. The decision came after the Red Bulls and Fire reached an agreement on compensation for Osorio.
New York Red Bulls official team colors are red, white, and blue. New York Red Bulls jersey for the 2009 season will feature the same enlarged Red Bull logo on the centre. The home shirt is white, while the away shirt is navy blue. Unlike last season, the three stripes of Adidas will not be continuous on the sleeve, but will stop for the MLS badge and continue after it. The details and collar on the home shirt are red, while those on the away shirt are grey. The collar has a very eye-catching mandarin style. It makes use of Adidas ClimaCool fabric to wick perspiration and making the shirts well-aired. The club home shirt is complemented by white shorts with Adidas three red side piping. The New York Red Bulls white socks is completed with the three stripes and the adidas logo (placed in the centre) are red.
