Australia national football team or its official nickname is the "Socceroos" which switched from the Oceania Football Confederation in January 2006 to become invitee members of the ASEAN Football Federation in a bid to raise standards and provide more competitive fixtures. The Socceroos have appeared in two previous finals (1974 and 2006). Australia have been drawn in Group D of the 2010 World Cup in which the Socceroos will have to face Germany, Ghana and Serbia. Australia opening match played against Germany on 14 June 2010 at Durban, but was defeated 4–0 by Germany. Australia's second group match against Ghana resulted in a draw of 1–1 and their last match Australia defeated Serbia 2–1, but failed to advance to the knockout stage.
The home shirt design it is made out in their world famous yellow colour with green. Made from 100% polyester using Nike's Dri-Fit fabric technology and is a short sleeved design with a v-shaped neckline. The sleeves are green and extend to the shoulders and collar. The top green part of the shirt is separated from the bottom part by a white horizontal stripe, feature there will be a yellow detail on the sleeves. The team badge is on the left of the chest and the makers Nike trademark Swoosh logo has a green colour and sits on the right side of the chest, the text 'AUSTRALIA' at the back of the neck and green player printing.
