Above kits: The Iran home and away has the no.2 on the front and rear indicating it was the shirt of forward player Mehdi Mahdavikia, who at the time played for Iranian clubs, Pirouzi Tehran.

Played in Group F, Iran was back after World Cup 1978, Argentina (20 years) and won a prestigious match against USA, but couldn't get through anyway.Iran entered the tournament with a classic PUMA kit.
