The Canadian men's national soccer team, overseen by the Canadian Soccer Association, has experienced little international success. During its first and only FIFA World Cup appearance in 1986, the team failed to score a goal and finished at the bottom of a group that included European powerhouses France and the Soviet Unio. However the team have enjoyed success in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, winning the tournament in 2000 and finishing third in 2002.
